“Mole” Armchair at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

ESPASSO is proud to announce that a “Mole” Armchair and Ottoman designed by Sergio Rodrigues in 1957 is now part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s permanent collection.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has formally accepted the Sergio Rodrigues pieces as a gift from ESPASSO’s principal, Carlos Junqueira.

The “Mole” armchair and ottoman are the first modern Brazilian pieces to enter the museum’s holdings and is part of the foundation for growing a larger collection of Latin American modern design.

The iconic gift represents Carlos’ commitment to conserving Brazil’s rich 20th Century design heritage and promoting the work of today’s leading designers.
