SP-Arte 2014

South American’s largest art fair, SP-Arte, opened its 10th edition this week in São Paulo, in the iconic Biennial Pavilion building designed by Oscar Niemeyer.  Featuring 137 Brazilian and international galleries, exhibited works range from modern to contemporary as the fair will debut their ‘Solo’ project curated by Inhotim director Rodrigo Maura, showing works from 14 emerging galleries from around the globe: New York’s Henrique Faria, Romania’s Ivan Gallery and Travessia Cuatro from Madrid to name a few.  SP-Arte is establishing itself as a must within the art world’s circuit, as stated by the fair’s executive director Fernanda Feitosa: “As a result of our fair, the country has become a welcome new addition on the global art circuit of curators, collectors, exhibitions and art advisors.”  Proof of that is the ever-growing exhibitors list, which this year includes an unprecedented volume of international galleries and artists, including blue-chip London Gallery Stephen Friedman and NY’s Marian Goodman, alongside established Brazilian galleries such as São Paulo’s Casa Triangulo, Galeria Nara Rosler, Galeria Milan and Luciana Brito Galeria who is showcasing new works by American legendary figurative painter Alex Katz.  Check out more information on SP-Arte here.
