Sergio Rodrigues celebrated at Rio de Janeiro’s Fashion Week
The latest edition of Rio Fashion Week, January 2012, featured a large scale exhibition and celebration of iconic furniture designer and architect Sergio Rodrigues’ vast oeuvre. Calling attention to some of Rio’s hippest cultural producers, Rio Fashion Week Curator, Mari Stockler, and her curatorial team organized an interactive arena in which the public could sensorially “converse” with some of Rodrigues’ pivotal designs. Through witty installation solutions, such as the yellow-fabric covered station containing the seminal Mole armchair with speakers narrating some of the piece’s background stories, the exhibition allowed a welcomed, intimate bond between spectator and work. The event also announced the upcoming Instituto Sergio Rodrigues, currently in development.
