Isay Weinfeld Solo Exhibition at ESPASSO NY
ESPASSO is pleased to announce the opening of A to Z by ISAY WEINFELD, the first US exhibition by the multi-award winning, Brazilian architect and designer. The opening coincides with the American launch of the new monograph Isay Weinfeld, written with Raul A. Barreneche, that surveys a selection of his most recent projects, some of the most visionary and celebrated buildings in Brazil. A to Z will be on view to the public November 13 until December 1, 2013.
This year marks Isay’s 40th year practicing architecture following the opening of his multidisciplinary, namesake design studio in 1973. Based in São Paulo, he has been responsible for some of Brazil’s most notable projects built in the last years including the 360° Building – an Architectural Record award-winning 20-story residence; the Fasano Group’s portfolio of luxury hotels, including the Fasano Porto Feliz – winner of Interior Design’s award for best resort hotel; retail spaces like the Livraria da Vila bookstores and numerous shops along Rua Oscar Freire.
Throughout his career Isay has had a strong connection to the visual arts. He is consistently sought out to design buildings that showcase contemporary art and has created works himself, directing many award-winning short films. The A to Z exhibit is an extension of his dedication to creative expression.
“ESPASSO is honored to be the premiere venue to host Isay Weinfeld’s first US exhibition. A to Z demonstrates that Isay’s approach to design translates across many disciplines to create works that are distinctive, noteworthy and beautiful. We are excited to be introducing this work to a new audience and to be partnering with BEĨ EDITORA to launch his new monograph stateside,” said ESPASSO’s principal Carlos Junqueira.
