AFAR – Arthur Casas spotlights Higienópolis, São Paulo.
The neighborhood of Higienópolis in São Paulo has traditionally been grounds for architectural gems from turn-of-the-century mansions to the modernist residential edifices that emerged thereafter. Within São Paulo’s agitated urbanscape Higienópolis manages to feel like an intimate and secluded residential neighborhood surrounded by lush vegetation and localized commerce. Prolific and noted Brazilian architect Arthur Casas built his architectural studio headquarters there and highlights his favorites spots in Higienópolis for the ‘experiential travel guide’ AFAR. Amid his picks Casas spotlights contemporary art gallery Galeria Vermelho, projected by Pritzeker prize laureate Paulo Mendes da Rocha, the city-block sized Parque Buenos Aires, and the Museu de Arte Brasileira, São Paulo (MAB).
